چکیده

Mobile robots are machines that can move and act in the real world, making it possible to generate a multitude of interplay situations, which can engage children and encourage interaction in a variety of different ways. Mobility, appearance, interaction modalities (e.g., sound, light, moving parts) and behaviour (predetermined and adaptive) can all have an influence in sustaining the interest (and therefore learning) of typically developing children or children with specific deficits such as autism. This paper summarizesfindings from two of our on-going projects, one using a spherical mobile robot and the other using a humanoid-like robot toy.

Assistive Technologies and Children-Robot Interaction

Introduction Mobile robot technology can become useful tools to study and contribution in child development and rehabilitation. In this paper, we present our latest work in two of our projects in this area: adapting the robot’s behavior based on perceived interaction using proprioceptive sensors, and studying if a mobile robot could, by being more predictable, attractive and simple, facilitate ...

An Experimental Study on Blinking and Eye Movement Detection via EEG Signals for Human-Robot Interaction Purposes Based on a Spherical 2-DOF Parallel Robot

Blinking and eye movement are one of the most important abilities that most people have, even people with spinal cord problem. By using this ability these people could handle some of their activities such as moving their wheelchair without the help of others. One of the most important fields in Human-Robot Interaction is the development of artificial limbs working with brain signals. The purpos...

Effect of Target Impedance Selection on the Lower Extremity Assistive Exoskeleton Performance

Exoskeletons are utilized extensively in robotic rehabilitation and power augmentation purposes. One of the most recognised control algorithms utilized in this field is the impedance controller. Impedance control approach provides the capability of realizing different rehabilitation exercises by tuning the target impedance gains. Trial and error experimental approach is one of the most common m...

Ethical Principles for Socially Assistive Robotics

The health, education, and other service applications for robots that assist through primarily social rather than physical interaction are rapidly growing, and so is the research into such technologies. Socially assistive robotics (SAR) aims to address critical areas and gaps in care by automating supervision, coaching, motivation, and companionship aspects of one-on-one interactions with indiv...
